We had taken ages deciding on what we wanted to replace our 30 year old kitchen. We worked up a long list of things we wanted (Howdens off the shelf with a fair bit of bespoke/modification) including a number of ancillary jobs such as a new fuse box and matching replacement floor in the downstairs toilet. Owen visited twice, he understood all our requirements and made some great suggestions to improve the end result. We also had a visit to their workshop to look at a few options in situ.
Owen and Adam were great from Day 1. There was a minimum of fuss as our old kitchen was completely gutted. They also had to fit into the plan a complete floor replacement as our old floor had suffered a bit over the years.
All the trades …plastering, electrics, decorating…were sorted out by the team, and they were all really nice people who did a great job. We were often out of the house and able to leave Owen and Adam to arrange everything.
The kitchen was fitted and we thought it looked wonderful. This included a bespoke solution for our larder under the stairs which has been transformed. They did some lovely floating shelves in the kitchen and some nice modifications to Howdens standard configuration in some of the cupboards. They also opened up one of the walls to provide more space and better support to the centre isle.
There were a few supplier problems on the way, with lack of stock and wrong bits being delivered. Howdens also couldn’t supply one part they had offered in the original design but that was all solved without us having to do anything. There was a delay on the delivery of the handles which meant we had a lovely finished kitchen except for a dozen or so handles which were stuck in Germany. A clever temporary solution meant we could still use the cupboards until it was sorted however.
We did purchase our own appliances which Owen and Adam fitted, despite Adam not being totally happy that the cooker and microwave were different makes! He is a perfectionist.
Throughout the whole process, Rachel kept us informed of progress. Owen and Adam always involved us in any necessary decision making. We always knew what was being done each day and the job was completed in excellent timescales despite the handles issue!
All in all, they did a fantastic job and we are so pleased with our new kitchen (and bathroom floor). We would certainly use them again.
